The teams are rushing up and down the SEHA – Gazprom League’s table, but one is as hard as a rock. And that is the one belonging to 2015/2016 season SEHA runner-up, Vardar. It remains to be seen what they are up this season…
The 6th round was opened with a clash of PPD Zagreb and Metalurg Skopje. In a dominant match in which Zagreb hosted the Macedonian vice-champions, ‘Lions’ kept the lead for the whole 60 minutes of the match and in the end celebrated with the result of 29:20. The Croats hope this strike will get them back on the winning track after losing 3 in a row in the EHF Champions League.
For the second match of the week, Celje Pivovarna Lasko travelled to face Meshkov Brest. The Belarussians that were present in the Sports Palace Victoria could certainly enjoy seeing their team play, as Meshkov gave out an amazing performance celebrating over Celje 36:29. Meshkov have, after this win, overtaken PPD Zagreb’s second place on the SEHA table.
As much as Izvidjac CO arrived in Skopje with an experience-earning motive, the loss seems to be quite bitter as they hardly competed with Vardar. The Macedonian champion ended up scoring 42 goals setting the League’s new record and confirming their placement. Vardar are, not having lost a single 2016/2017 match, firmly on the first position of the regional table, with an incomparable lead by 9 points (which equals 3 wins).
