We were very pleased to see many people from different countries participating in the Best Handball Fan Contest this year. Proving that is Artyom Dubko, from Belarus. Artyom is 28 and is a big sport enthusiast. He is from Minsk and is a big Meshkov Brest fan. Supporting Meshkov Brest must be really good in Belarus, considering their recent dominance in domestic championship, but also many successes in SEHA – Gazprom League and EHF Champions League.
Artyom also plays handball, he told us he started back in 2004 at home. There are many sports that are becoming popular in Belarus, like ice-hockey and football, but Artyom decided to try himself out in handball. He is still very active and watches handball matches very often, at least once every month, but usually more. When he’s in the Arena, he loves the atmosphere in Meshkov’s home arena – Victoria.
Every fan has a role model, a favourite player. There is always that one guy in your favourite team’s jersey that you watch carefully, enjoying his moves a bit more. For Artyom, that is Viachaslau Shumak, Meshkov’s pivot, who recently recorded his 100thappearance for the club in SEHA – Gazprom League. He has been around for a very long time, and also plays for the national team. Artyom’s favourite match is between two major SEHA rivals – Meshkov Brest and Vardar and he tries to go to the Arena every time his team host Vardar.
In his free time, Artyom does more than watching handball. We mentioned earlier he is a big sports enthusiast and he also plays handball. But, he does other sport too, like volleyball and football.
We wish Artyom good luck in the third round of the contest, and hope to see him in the stands some time soon!
