Who’s going to France?
June 10, 2016

In the next eight days, the rest of the passengers for the World Championship in France in 2017 will be known. Current European champions, Germany, as well as the vice champion Spain and the bronze medalists Croatia and host France already secured their place at the IHF’ event of the year. Second qualification phase is ahead of us with 18 national teams looking to book their ticket for the handball spectacle.

First one to look for the points are Serbia and Hungary. Laszlo Nagy, Roland Mikler and the rest of the Hungarians are aiming for a victory on an away court, in Kraljevo, Serbia. After the opening match on Friday, another three will be played on Saturday and five on Sunday.

It will be interesting to see the match between Czech Republic and FRY Macedonia. Macedonians are favorites, but Czechs proved two years ago that they can play on WCh. On the other hand, probably the most exciting match is the one between Slovenia and Norway. Both teams eager to show their best performance. The last match on Saturday will be the one between the bronze medalists from Qatar 2015, Poland and the Netherlands.

On Sunday, Bosnia and Herzegovina will have a tough task beating Sweden, and the same situation is in the match Russia – Montenegro. Iceland will have a bit easier task, since they are playing against Portugal. Belarus will host Latvia and Denmark will face Austria.

Exciting weekend is ahead with nine matches and a half way to the World Championship in France. Stay tuned!
