The only two games on this week’s schedule SEHA – Gazprom league were played on Tuesday when Zagreb for the first time hosted Gorenje Velenje, while Vardar Skopje hosted Tatran Presov.
Last season’s runner-up celebrated at home once again, this the time proving their dominance in the match against Tatran Presov (38:21). Besides the fact they are entering the fifth week of SEHA league undefeated, the seriousness and confidence of Vardar make them one of the favorites for winning this year’s title.
Slovenian vice champion Gorenje Velenje arrived in Zagreb for the first time in SEHA league. The hosts opened the match excellently and held advantage over Gorenje for the whole 60 minutes of the match who were ultimately defeated by Zagreb’s 7-goal lead (28:21). Zagreb was to the 3 new points led by Stipe Mandalinic, but also excellent Matevz Skok with 13 saves on the goal. Coach Veselin Vujovic Zagreb pointed out that they used technical errors that Gorenje was making, but also believes that Zagreb are at the moment the better team that took a well-deserved victory.
