Week five ended confirming some of our expectations but has also proved that the best moments of the season are yet to come.
The Slovak representative Tatran Presov welcomed Meshkov Brest for the 4th rounds of SEHA League. After a great opening of the match, Meshkov controlled the whole 60 minutes of the match and took the victory of 30:25 which topped them to the second place of the SEHA table.
In the second Tuesday’s match, Metalurg Skopje hosted the Croatian vice-champion, Nexe. After a sensational victory in the SEHA league and the Champions League, Cervar’s team had an excellent motive to continue the winning streak. However, they did not succeed. By the end of the first half, Nexe created an advantage that they held until the last minute of the match, when the Macedonians managed to tie in the very last minute (25:25).
In Ljubuski Sports Hall, in front of more than 4,000 supporters of the Bosnian champion, Izvidac CO welcomed PPD Zagreb. Zagreb celebrated with 26:28, however, they had to fight harder than expected. After a long break due to injury, Luka Sebetic ran on the court for the first time this season in the match against Izvidac.
In the new clash in Skopje, Vardar’s winning streak has been continued. From the first minute, the Macedonian team took the lead against the Slovenes and in the following minutes continued confirming their superiority. The current champion of Macedonia has now additionally strengthened its top position, while Gorenje Velenje will have to wait for their next opportunity to climb higher on the regional handball’s table.
