Unpredictable moments are why we love handball – and that’s why we ADORED it in the 5th round of EHF Champions League.

Telekom Veszprem, who are the only representative of SEHA – Gazprom League in EHF Champions League, have suffered their first defeat in this season’s EHF Champions League. In the Saturday’s match FC Barcelona Lassa was better winning the match 26:23. The double SEHA Gazprom League title-holders are now placed 4th in the group A, right behind FC Barcelona Lassa, Paris Saint-Germain Handball and THW Kiel.

In a somewhat dominate match by the side of the hosts IFK Kristianstad, who were leading by 3 at the halftime, the last-minute buzzer allocated the new points. The Swedish side missed collecting another 2 points, instead taking 1 after Blaz Janc made the deciding score in the last seconds tying the match to 29:29.

In the huge ‘match of the week’ held in Zagreb, the Croatian side hosted the so-far undefeated Vardar. After a prolonged series of negative effect in Champions League, Zagreb celebrated under the new coach’s leadership who debuted on Saturday night. It was one of the most important nights in the career of Silvio Ivandija whose team won over one of the biggest candidates for FINAL 4  this season making his premiere a night to remember.

Meshkov Brest arrived in Szeged for their fifth match in Champions League this season. It was not a way to go for Bebeshko’s team who were left defeated with the result of 24:22, not succeeding in grabbing the new points. Meshkov are now in the middle of the table, still having one of the best chances to pass the group phase and qualify for the best 16 teams in the Europe.

The group C heated up on Saturday when Tatran Presov collected the three new points triumphing over Chekhkovskie Medvedi. The Russians could not keep up with the hosts and the guest ground, leaving Slovakia defeated by 30:28.

Metalurg were left at the bottom of the group C after scoring only 18 goals in the match against Montpellier HB. Far from enough for 28 goals by the French. Metalurg, however, hold the same amount of points as Tatran Presov and Chekhovskie Medvedi do, meaning the fight is everything but over for them.
