Group C: Bad boys and cowboys as the strongest in Rouen

Interesting teams will meet in group C in Rouen. Current European champions, Germany, and bronze medallist, Croatia, could easily be the teams to fight for the first place in this group. However, Belarus and Hungary can surprise, and Chile is certainly unknown here while Saudi Arabia is a frequent guest of the World championships.

Bad boys are pretty tough on the court lately. Dagur Sigurdsson was a real hero after winning the golden medal at the EHF Euro in Poland last winter. They were fast and furious with amazing Wolff as the last one to be stopped. The problem for each team were Wolff’s great skills and the fact that he stopped the best European scorers. As it looks like, the Bad boys are ready to shine one more time, the last time with Dagur Sigurdsson as he leaves the German bench to coach the team of Japan.

Croatia is a country that hasn’t missed a major event. They have talent and experience, have their ups and downs, but have won 13 medals in total at the WCh, ECh and Olympic Games. The handball story, which will be told trough generations and generations, is the match against the host Poland at the European Champions. Little hope was given to them ahead of the match. Norway had to win France and Croatia had to win Poland with +11 or more to reach the semi-finals. Both of this thing happened and the Croats were flying high. There’s no reason not to expect everything from this team.

Yuri Shevtsov, Belarussian national team coach has a big chance to pass the group. He relies on the players, which play in Meshkov Brest and SKA Minsk, the domestic clubs. At the last big Championship they showed great skills, led by Sergey Rutenka, the man that won six EHF Champions League titles. He is among a few that hold this record.

Spanish coach, Xavi Sabate, which leads the team of Hungary will have at his disposal top European players such as Laszlo Nagy, Roland Mikler, Iman Jamali and the rest of the Hungarian aces ready to shake the net. It will be the first major event for the Spaniard and the Hungarians and it will be interesting to see their game.

Saudi Arabia is the frequent guest of the World Championships but as well as the team of Chile, it can be said that they are unknown to the European teams and can easily make a surprise. Summed up, the fans will enjoy in the phenomenal handball watching group C.
