After an incredible January and the EHF Euro in which we saw Spain win the gold medal for the first time, the time has come to come back to club competitions. SEHA – Gazprom League started with an incredible match on Thursday. Vardar traveled to Brest to face Meshkov, in an attempt to continue their amazing winning streak this season.
Needless to say, it was a tough match, full of excitement. The hosts were in the lead for majority of the match, much to the delight of their fans. A nicely filled Victoria Hall in Brest, passionately experienced every goal scored by their team. 5 minutes before the end of the match, it looked like Meshkov are going to take 3 points, meaning Vardar would lose their first game this season. The ending of the match could not have been much better, as Vardar even had a chance to win the match, but former Meshkov’s star Dainis Kristopans saw his shot go off target.
We loved it, the fans loved it. It’s not the same when you support your national team and your club. Both feelings are amazing, and we want to see these kind of matches in the future. 5 minutes is such a long time in a handball match. You can see it on fans’ faces. One minute they are happy, feeling confident that their team will grab a win, but a few moments later, you are hoping for a point. That’s the beauty of sport, and SEHA – Gazprom League will always look to give you a rollercoaster of emotions in every match. We’re sure the fans are glad that SEHA is back!
