IHF introduces the first resin-free match ball for the Women’s (U18) World Championship

For the first time ever in handball, players at the 2022 IHF Women’s Youth (U18) World Championship will use a resin-free match ball. How is that possible? Thanks to “nendo”, a company led by Oki Sato who developed a new technology in the creation of handballs. A new resin-free ball called “d60 PRO” uses a thicker sponge layer and a surface structure with 60 triangle-shaped panels and dimples in the centre of the panels. It creates an exceptional grip that replaces commonly used handball wax.

The 2022 edition of the IHF Women’s Youth (U18) World Championship, the first IHF Youth World Championship to feature 32 teams, will be organized in Georgia in the period from 3 to 14 August. It will be the ninth edition of the championship and the first time in history that the championship will be organized by the Georgian National Handball Federation. So far the qualified teams are Georgia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Montenegro, Norway, Romania, Switzerland, Portugal, France, Sweden, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Algeria, Egypt, and Guinea. The upcoming qualification events for the World Championship are the 9th Asian Women’s Youth Championship, held from 18 to 25 March 2022 in Kazakhstan, and 2022 Women’s Youth South and Central American Championship, held from 26 to 30 April 2022 in Brazil.
