Last weekend was reserved for the Energi Viborg EHF Finals, which resulted SG BBM Bietigheim winning their first ever European trophy. The final tournament was held in Danish Viborg from 14 to 15 May. Four teams that participated were SG BBM Bietigheim, CS Minaur Baia Mare, Viborg HK and Herning-Ikast Handbold.
In a first semi-final match, Danish team Viborg HK was better than CS Minaur Baia Mare which managed to qualify for EHF Finals for the second season in a row, with final result 28:24. The second semi-final match was played between Bietigheim and Herning-Ikast in which Bietigheim defeated Herning-Ikast with 34:33 and managed to keep winning streak.
Herning-Ikast Handbold secured the third place in a thrilling match against Romanian CS Minaur Baia Mare and made a step higher than the last season. The winner was decided after a penalty shootout and ended with the total result 29:28. The final match was reserved for home team Viborg HK and guests from Germany, SG BBM Bietigheim. Bietigheim demonstrated the power and in dominant victory (31:20) against Viborg HK became the new champions of the EHF European League.

Also, this season, Bietigheim managed to write history because they achieved 12-game winning streak. Their winning streak started in the last qualification round before the group phase against Norwegian team Tertnes Bergen and everything ended at the Energi Viborg EHF Finals and the final win against Viborg HK.
The MVP award of the Energi Viborg EHF Finals belonged to the 28-year-old left back Xenia Smits (SG BBM Bietigheim) and Kristina Jørgensen (Viborg HK) won Top scorer award with 72 scored goals.
After many matches played during the season and four outstanding matches at the final tournament, The Energi Viborg EHF Finals 2022, women’s second-tier European club competiton this season proved the rising quality of the whole League.
